-Mom is a big fan of raising independent kids. When I went to my first day of first grade, she got up and made me a little sack lunch, which I later enjoyed in the Robson cafeteria. On my second day of first grade, mom woke me up and took me to the kitchen, where she proceeded to teach me how to make a peanut butter sandwich.
-Sad but funny for dad was when he crashed his head into the hanging vent from the air conditioner. I'm pretty sure he was bleeding, but I don't think he even yelled.
-Also the time when dad locked the keys in the car in Provo canyon and dropped his camera in the river. That was the reigning champion for mishaps on vacation...at least for a while.
-When we were at BYU, Kathy and Clint and the kids came to visit us. We went to their hotel because it had a pool. We all went swimming and at one point, we were sitting in the jacuzzi. There was a boy there and he kept splashing and was being really annoying. Kathy didn't hold back and told the kid to quiet down and stop splashing. We were feeling pretty happy that the kid listened until we looked over and realized the boy's mom was sitting over in the corner. Somehow we didn't notice her there. Anyway, Kathy was totally embarrassed and we left feeling so awkward. To make it all worse, the family ended up being in the room next door, so she ran into them several times over the stay.
-I love the sight of walking into Clint and Kathy's room and seeing Kathy sitting up in bed, covers pulled up, knees bent, glasses on, bubble gum in her mouth and a crossword puzzle in hand. She always takes off her glasses and is ready for a talk.
-Clint is the family time party man. He is always up for anything, as long as it involves his kids or wife. He really knows how to show his family that he loves them by spending time with them. He's taken trips to Disneyland, the zoo, concerts, or has gone on shopping sprees for the sole purpose of spending time with the people he loves most. What a guy.
